Job Type: Part-time, Competitive Hourly Pay (6-month commitment minimum)
Schedule:
2-3 hours per afternoon, Monday through Friday (after school hours)
7 hours during school breaks (summer, winter, spring, etc.)

About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate Part-time Art Teacher to join our growing art studio, specializing in clay and crafting projects. This individual will inspire and guide students through hands-on creative experiences, helping children ages 5-14 develop artistic skills while nurturing their self-expression, confidence, and social-emotional growth. The ideal candidate will be an artist with experience working with clay and crafting techniques who is excited to bring their own unique perspective and style to the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Art Classes (Lesson Plans Provided):
Teach and engage students through a variety of clay and crafting projects. Ensure each lesson is fun, educational, and supports the overall development of students' artistic and social-emotional skills.Classroom Management:
Create and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Foster a space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, making mistakes, and exploring their creativity.Adapt Lessons:
Customize projects to accommodate varying age groups and skill levels, ensuring every child can participate and grow in their own artistic journey. Provide clear instructions and offer individualized support when needed.Collaborate:
Work closely with the studio team to align on lesson plans, materials, and the overall direction of the studio’s educational programming.Maintain Materials:
Oversee the organization and replenishment of art supplies, ensuring that materials are always available for the classes.
Requirements
Experience:
2-3 years proven experience teaching or working with children, preferably in an art or creative setting.
Experience working with clay, pottery, and/or crafting projects (e.g., paper crafting, beadwork, textile arts).
Ability to demonstrate techniques and offer individualized guidance to students.
Passion for Working with Kids:
A love for teaching and inspiring children, especially in a hands-on creative setting.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with children of different age groups.
Availability:
Flexible and available for 2-3 hours in the afternoons (Monday-Friday) during the school year, as well as 7 hours during school breaks.
Commitment:
Ability to commit to at least 6 months, with the desire for a longer-term relationship with The Creative Lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a similar role (teaching art to children).
Experience with or interest in working with clay, pottery, or other crafting materials.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
